Arizona Watercolor Association (AWA) announced the upcoming opening of their “Fall 2012 Membership Exhibition.”
The Exhibition opens Monday, October 1st, 2012 at the Home & Design Idea Center, located at 19120 North Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ, 85255. The AWA Fall Membership Exhibition is open during all business hours and is free to the public.
Making its debut in October 2009, the Home & Design Idea Center is the only facility of its kind in the Southwest. With more than 40,000 square feet of showroom space, the Idea Center houses a collection of more than 200 companies offering home-related products and services. Guests can visit the center seven days a week, year round, for endless inspirations for their homes. The Exhibition will be available to view through October 26th. Open Mon-Sat 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Jeremy Jones, AWA President, “Eighty-six AWA artists submitted 212 amazing paintings, so it was quite a job for our juror to just select 60 for this show and its prestigious setting.” Many of our artists are also teachers and hold regular workshops. You can meet the artists at a Reception, Sponsored by Arizona Art Supply, that will be held at the Home & Design Idea Center on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Our AWA Artist Awards Ceremony will follow this reception from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Media is welcome to attend all events. www.azartsupply.com
The Juror for this exhibition is Carl Purcell, who taught painting and drawing at Snow College in Utah for thirty years, but now spends his time painting and teaching workshops. “I think you will find that this show has a lot of diversity. It was a joy to go through all of the paintings over many hours and to inspect the images closely. The AWA can be proud of the quality of art being produced by its members,” Purcell wrote. He is the author of Painting with your Artist’s Brain (North Light Books) and has been featured in The Artists Magazine and Splash 1 publications. He is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS) and helped jury their 2009 National Show. Visit his website at www.carlpurcell.com for examples of his work.
